CONTROLLED DRUG PRESCRIPTION COLLECTIONS
Although the chemist may deliver - it is safer to collect in person.
If a "messenger" is sent to collect the controlled drug prescription, they must carry a bearer’s note signed by the patient stating that they are authorised to collect them and show identification.
All staff giving out the prescription should be asking for this identification.
For pharmacies collecting on the patient's behalf, the bearer's note does not need to be displayed on each collection, only on the initial collection, but the collectors identification needs to be shown in each instance.
